If you are reading this letter you are probably evaluating builders in some radius of Cookeville, Tennessee to build a home for you. Let me suggest that your search is over since you’ve found Jason Butler Construction. In 2018 we were in the same situation with all the skepticism and concern one can expect over trusting someone with hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce a well-built home outside the major Tennessee metropolitan centers without suffering incompetence or getting bled for unseen charges and cost overruns. Throughout the building process we became more and more relieved that we’d picked Jason to the point that we wound up with a lasting friendship and the desire to share this letter for those in the future facing the same substantial decision.
- Jason built us the ~2,500 SqFt vacation home on Cordell Hull Lake in Gainesboro, TN pictured above. The project took about a year but could conceivably have been done in around 10 months were it not for the fact that I was the electrician (by myself) and we injected some delays from specialty contractors we brought to the project, e.g. we converted some antique furniture into bathroom vanities and chose 100+yr old reclaimed wood for our floors which had to first be milled into flooring and then sit in the house for two weeks to stabilize.
- The results exceeded our expectations, the workmanship was excellent, and any workmanship concerns we had along the way were dealt with effectively. We’re now coming up on a year in the finished house and have had very little trouble with Jason resolving any concerns we raised.
- Jason routinely communicated accurately and honestly about the schedule as the availability of subcontractors and materials waxed and waned (which it always does).
- Jason watched all the expenditures closely against the estimated budget and took pride in hitting his numbers. He creatively saved a little in one category when something in another category was more expensive, always aiming to keep to the overall bottom line budget number. He was also clear and forthcoming about places where our decisions were going to bust the budget, e.g. we wound up with about twice the amount of exterior stone work that was budgeted so naturally we spent twice budget in that category.
Jason was always calm, level-headed and polite, usually with a subtle sense of humor lingering in the background. He took all our suggestions sincerely and seriously, giving us honest feedback in advance about potential implications.
In short, if you pick Jason Butler Construction for your project you’ll be glad you did. We were.
Cory & Liz H.
We feel extremely fortunate to have discovered Jason Butler when seeking builders for our dream home. We built a custom, energy efficient home with some non-traditional construction details and finishing touches. Jason and his crew, and his sub-contractors, were a joy to work with and learn from and were incredibly patient and understanding of our vision, expectations, and my intermittent interference in their work. We are delighted with our home and with the construction process. Building a home can be one of the most stressful pursuits in a person’s life. Jason and his team helped make this process joyful for us through their professionalism and attention to detail in their work. We have recommended Jason Butler Construction to friends and family and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again if we ever found ourselves wanting to build another home.
